In my apartment complex, people often leave detergent/bleach/etc down in the laundry room. In the year or so I've lived here, there's never been a problem with this. People don't seem to be stealing or anything, or if they do, it's a small enough amount that I certainly never noticed.

So! Imagine my surprise when I went down to start my weekly laundry, go to get my detergent, which was probably about 2/3s full the last time I used it, and discover it almost completely fucking empty. No. Seriously. It had been one week since I last did laundry, and in that short amount of time, some asshole (or assholes! I don't know) depleted pretty much the whole container. I barely had enough left for two loads.

Now, I could be a mature, responsible adult about this, go buy a new thing of detergent, and just refrain from keeping it in the laundry room in the future.

OR I could mosey on down to the local paint store, buy some dark red paint, pour some in the detergent container, and put it back where I left it.

What are your thoughts on this matter, LJ?

Also, hey folks from the TQC friending meme. \o

EDIT: I brought up the idea of this to my wife, adding that I could probably use corn syrup + red food coloring for a more blood-like and cost-efficient alternative. I fully expected her to lecture me about what a bad idea it was, and tell me not to do it. Instead she suggested using blue food coloring, since it would actually resemble the detergent and leave more potential for the thieves to inadvertently fuck up their clothes.

I fucking love my wife, guys.
